Oak Top Coffee Table
The components of this table were estate sale finds. The table could be used as a coffee table or TV stand. It is 19" high, 23" wide and 40" long. The table has local history. The crate and table top were found at an estate sale on the northwest side of Grand Rapids, MI. The table top came off of a 100 year old table that was used as a work bench and the crate is an old one too, circa 1960s(?). I was attracted to the crate because of the address and the table top because of all the scarring and obvious hard use it experienced. I did not want to lose the weathered look of the crate or top. I lightly sanded the base and then epoxy filled the holes that went through the table top. Oak legs were attached to the bottom. The steel corners and screws were gun blued and added to enhance the industrial look. The base and legs got two coats and the top got three coats of polyurethane.
